Micro Magnetics employs a strong scientific team which has a proven track record of innovative and cutting-edge research and development in the fields of magnetic sensing and imaging, spintronics, and nanotechnology. Micro Magnetics is a company built on innovations and ideas and our intellectual properties are key to our profitability. We have taken steps to protect specific sensor designs and material recipes, and will aggressively develop and protect new applications as they are identified. Our strategy is to make extensive use of provisional patents to protect against inadvertent public release. These provisional patents will be reviewed prior to expiration to determine if full patent protection is warranted. Critical processes, such as thin film deposition and materials treatment, will be protected by trade secrets and software which we develop will be copyrighted.
Currently, Micro Magnetics has four patents. These cover inventions and innovations related to our magnetic sensing and semiconductor metrology solutions. Micro Magnetics also holds a few trademarks. Professor Gang Xiao holds seven patents in the area of sensors and magnetism. Patents that result from Professor Xiao's research at Brown University are assigned to the University and transferred to the company under an exclusive license agreement.
