Huan Tang, Ph.D., Senior Manager, Seagate Corp.

Dr. Huan Tang earned his Ph.D. in physics from the Johns Hopkins University in 1990. Afterwards, he did research on a wide range of subjects in physics at University of California, Irvine and Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory. In 1997, he became an industrial researcher with Seagate Technology’s Recording Media Operations. His R&D efforts at Seagate have been centered primarily on the study of head-disk interface tribology and the development of head-disk tribological and mechanical technologies to enable the continued rapid growth of magnetic recording areal densities. In addition, he has taken a keen interest in the theoretical understanding of the physics of advanced magnetic recording media. He has published over 80 research papers, and holds six US patents on hard-disk drive technologies.

Robert Stoner, Ph.D., Entrepreneur, Founder and Chairman of Vinestone Corp.

Dr. Robert Stoner is an entrepreneur and technologist with unique insights into the semiconductor industry. He has interest in and experience with imaging, precision measurement, and inspection in the semiconductor, medical, and telecommunication industries. He holds nine patents and nineteen pending patents. With a B.Sc from Queens University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in physics from Brown University, Dr. Stoner joined Intel Corporation, leading development teams for CMOS processes between 1992 and 1995. As founder and president of Cooper Mountain Corporation, a semiconductor consulting firm, he was instrumental in the commercialization of the Metapulse thin film optical inspection system with Rudolph Technologies. He is frequently an invited participant at the International Sematech Analytical Laboratory Managers working group and lectures on semiconductor measurement technology throughout the world.
